Prepare a delicious piece of roast at home

Palapaisti is a traditional dish in Portugal, Spain, France, Italy and Latin America. It is usually made in a heat-resistant ceramic pot, but today many people rely on a pressure cooker to make it.

The ingredients that come to fry vary depending on the country. For example, lard is not made hot in Europe, while some Latin American countries use certain types of chili peppers.

The steak is typically prepared for at least four people, as it is traditionally a meal for the whole family. In addition, it is good to note that it usually serves as the main meal.

The following recipe is very easy, as it comes with basic ingredients that taste almost everyone: potatoes and carrots. It is also noteworthy that the carrot gives the meal sweetness. If you like the taste of carrots, you can add more to your food!

A roast with potatoes and carrots

Potatoes are the basic ingredient in a frying pan

Ingredients for 4 people

  • 2 bay leaves
  • ½ kg of potatoes
  • 1 onion
  • ½ kg of beef tenderloin
  • 1 ripe tomato
  • extra virgin olive oil
  • 2.5 dl of white wine
  • 14 medium carrots
  • 1 teaspoon paprika powder
  • spices: salt, saffron, three whole peppers (optional)

Manufacturing

  1. First, wash and chop the meat. Then preheat the oven to 200 ºC.
  2. Chop the onion. Slice the tomatoes and carrots and chop the potatoes (without peeling).
  3. Put olive oil in a pan and saute the vegetables in it until the onion is lightly browned. Next, fry the meat in a pan, but do not cook it completely. When done, season.
  4. Then pour the olive oil on the bottom of the pot until the bottom is completely covered. Put the pot in the oven to warm for 5 minutes and then put the potatoes and meat as well as the wine and bay leaves in it. All materials should be completely covered with liquid.
  5. Cover with a lid and let the roast cook in the oven for 20 minutes. Then check the ripeness of the potatoes and add the other vegetables. If necessary, add more water to completely cover the ingredients.
  6. Cover again and allow to cook for 5 minutes.

Bake in another way

The roast may also contain onions and garlic

Ingredients

  • olive oil
  • 1 fresh garlic
  • 3 medium onions
  • 4 medium carrots
  • 5 dl white wine
  • 2 large red apples
  • 2 dec dried apricots
  • 2 decks of pitted prunes
  • spices: salt, ground black pepper, fresh rosemary

  1. Marinate the beef the day before with plenty of wine, fresh rosemary, salt and pepper. Leave to marinate for at least 10-12 hours. The next day Preheat the oven to 200 ºC.
  2. Cover the bottom of the frying pan with plenty of olive oil.
  3. Then slice the apples with their shells. Chop the onion and garlic into small pieces. Sauté the onions and garlic over medium heat in a pan poured with olive oil. When they are ready, set aside.
  4. Put the pot in the oven to warm up and then add the beef and potatoes. Put the peeled onions and garlic on top. Just like in the previous recipe, all ingredients should be completely covered in liquid.
  5. After the first 15 minutes, open the oven and check that the meat is browned. If so, turn it so that it browns on the other side as well. If necessary, add a glass of water and another glass of wine and allow to cook.
  6. Before serving, add apples, apricots and plums.
  7. Enjoy!
