New Capsule Treats Several Diseases For Months

The new capsule will be able to help treat several ailments for months. Because it is larger than the mouth of the stomach into the intestine, this capsule does not go with the rest of the waste, but instead stays in the stomach and gradually releases the medication there. Read more and hear what this strange capsule is all about!

Imagine for a second that one capsule could help treat both cholesterol levels, high blood pressure, anemia, and numbness for two weeks.

This seems strange, and it is even more strange because it is a small and complex product. This capsule helps people who have hitherto had to take more pills every day.

So could it be possible that one capsule could treat multiple diseases and that it could also have an effect over a longer period of time?

Yes, and it is a reality even now.

Can one capsule help with several diseases?

one medicine capsule

Two prestigious medical centers, Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston and MIT in Cambridge, have created that capsule, but in fact, the scientists originally had a different goal.

The aim of the project was to find a new treatment for malaria.

Scientists are looking for a way to treat humans with just one dose. Now, this is exactly the goal that has been achieved, but it has also opened the door to new opportunities in medicine, as well as in the treatment of chronic diseases.

Read on as we tell you more about what this miracle cure is all about!

Why is one capsule a better solution?

Anyone with a chronic illness, such as arthritis, has a need to take medicine every day for treatment to work. Then if a person forgets to take their medicine one day, its effect will disappear.

This is a common dilemma for older people, for example. If they don’t have anyone to arrange medications and give doses, they may not be taken.

So how is science helpful here?

A capsule that brings great change

replace the drugs with one capsule

The study was presented in a MIT publication and, as already mentioned, at the beginning of the study, those in charge (led by Giovanni Traverso ) were looking for a new way to treat malaria.

This disease, always present in the Third World, requires multiple doses for the medication to work properly. This means financial problems and challenges in drug management.

Scientists developed a “omnipotent” capsule that distributes the drug as if it were a small robot as it enters the stomach.

The capsule first grows in size. In this way, it does not leave the stomach and pass through the small intestine – there it could interfere with the absorption of nutrients or the removal of waste from the body.

This capsule expands in the abdomen to four centimeters in the form of a star. Then it stays in place for as long as possible. Later, it breaks down and disappears from the body.

The capsule contains a substance called Ivermectin. This is a type of parasiticide that works in a miraculous way with other polymers: it distributes drugs gradually.

A great future ahead

the man is a doctor

Currently, this capsule is capable of treating malaria and a wide variety of tropical diseases, including those spread by mosquitoes.

Those in charge of the study say that after the patient swallows the capsule, he or she will receive treatment for two weeks. The aim is to extend this period to three months.

Following the positive results of the study, other types of drugs are also being prepared to treat the most common chronic diseases with this technique.

These diseases include high cholesterol, high blood pressure, chronic pain and many other similar problems.

Think of a moment in the future where just one pill could treat all your ailments for at least three months. This will bring at least the following changes when it comes:

  • Spending money on medicines would decrease. It is hoped, however, that this is not a problem for the industry in question.
  • Patients could receive  more effective treatment without having to be careful with their doses.
  • There would be a new approach to treating infections and even psychological problems.

So let us hope that this scientific progress happens soon – we will follow the situation!
